Youth Orchestras have new names!

The orchestras of the OYOA have new names for 2022-2023. Click here to find out more!

Beginning in 2022-2023, our two orchestras will have new names. To better reflect the ages of students in both groups (up to age 21), and their skills, we have renamed the Ottawa Youth Orchestra the Ottawa Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Ottawa Junior Youth Orchestra the Ottawa Youth Concert Orchestra. We have an exciting season of repertoire ahead, and the new names better reflect the type of music played by each ensemble. The OYSO will continue to focus on the major symphonic canon – from classical to contemporary repertoire. The OYCO will focus on popular and film repertoire alongside classical favorites. With the announcement of our new conducting faculty, the OYOA is proud to present these two ensembles. As well, for students admitted to the OYO and OJYO in the audition process, your membership in the OYSO and OYCO transfers accordingly. We are always seeking new members and have some instruments open in both ensembles. Reach out to admin@oyoa-aojo.ca if you are interested in joining!
