Governance

Mission Statement

Our goal is to provide youth in the Ottawa region with a continuum of high-quality orchestral and ensemble training and performance opportunities at an affordable cost in a supportive musical environment.

Governance

The Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy (OYOA) is a registered non-profit, charitable organization run by a volunteer Board of Directors, committed parents and individuals.  Each year, we hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM), open to our members (parents/guardians) where we review past operations, finance, and other operational elements.  The Board of Directors meets once monthly.

Our Board of Directors for 2024-2025 is:

  • Henriette Riegel, President and Secretary
  • Robin Cushnie, Treasurer
  • Steve Brenninkmeyer, Director
  • Sarah Haley, Director
  • Josh Wynnyk, Director

Our Board of Directors, Administration Team, Music Director, and Faculty are committed to providing top quality instruction to our students. OYOA students are inspired, encouraged and challenged to build their musical skills and talents through creative learning environments and rewarding performance opportunities.  Governance is meant to oversee the primary mandates which focus on the four areas supporting students:

  • Peer Support
  • Skills achievement
  • Artistic development
  • Performance experience
