What does it sound like when everyday objects become instruments? Resonance invites you to find out: an evening of music for the 75th anniversary of Germany–Canada diplomatic relations, with German percussionist Leon Lorenz as special guest of the Ottawa Youth Symphony Orchestra.
For seventy-five years, Germany and Canada have built a partnership on trust, shared values, and a deep friendship between their people. That bond lives in cultural exchange, in common endeavours, and in the many personal ties that connect our two countries. This evening celebrates it in the most universal language there is.
At its heart is Mayrhofer’s Recycling Concerto, a work that treats recycling as an artistic statement. Kelly Marie Murphy’s Dark Nights, Bright Stars, Vast Universe and the third and fourth movements of Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 complete the program.
The concert brings together music, creativity, and sustainability, and asks what we owe the world we share. With a youth orchestra on stage, it also looks ahead: to a future of Germany–Canada relations that young people will shape through creativity, innovation, and a shared sense of responsibility.
Everyone is warmly invited. A reception follows the concert.
Tickets are free – advance registration is required through the following link.
